In Patna, two headmasters and a middleman were arrested on Saturday for their alleged involvement in recruiting fake teachers in Samastipur. The arrests were made following an investigation by a committee formed by Samastipur DM Yogendra Singh. The arrested individuals are headmasters Dilip Ram of Purushottampur Primary School, Avinash Kumar Tandon of Navtolia Primary School, and middleman Parvez Alam. They were apprehended in the Town police station area. A significant fraud was uncovered at Navtolia Primary School, according to a police source. As a result of the fraudulent recruitment, several teachers are now under scrutiny, with reports indicating that 12 of them are on the run. The police disclosed that the fake teachers were appointed in place of legitimate candidates selected through the BPSC, due to manipulation during the counselling process. The DM stated, "Complaints were received regarding fraudulent appointments in the BPSC TRE-2.0. After the list of successful BPSC exam candidates was published and their documents were verified, biometric thumbprints were taken from the candidates. However, personnel from the education department involved in these procedures deceitfully hired fake teachers using the roll numbers and candidate IDs of the selected BPSC candidates who did not accept the positions." The DM further explained that a committee comprising four members was tasked on September 7 to investigate this issue. Based on the committee's findings, the headmasters and middleman were taken into custody. An individual named Ranjana Kumari at Purushottam Primary School was identified as a fake teacher, and the appointments of teachers Nikhat Parveen and Tanuja Kumari at the same school are currently under investigation. The initial discovery of fraudulent hiring took place at this specific school, as confirmed by an official from the Town police station.
